Our long-term composting toilet solution offers a great toilet experience, free from odours and unpleasant sights. A CompostEra system is also easy to maintain as it requires no handling of toilet waste or urine, which are both processed by the tank.
How CompostEra works
CompostEra toilets use long-term composting in a closed system to ensure that potentially harmful pathogens and pollutants are safely broken down with natural processes and composting worms over time.
Much of the moisture from the urine is evaporated through the ventilation fan connected to the compost tank. The rest of the urine is nitrified as it filters through the compost pile and a liquid drains from the tank that can be used as a fertiliser. The compost liquid smells of sweet compost and contains no harmful bacteria such as Escherichia coli (E.coli) and Intestinal Enterococci (IE).

The ultimate toilet experience
A CompostEra toilet couldn’t be easier and more pleasant to use. Toilet waste – including both faeces and urine – are deposited into the toilet along with toilet paper. The toilet is waterless and has no flush.
What’s great about CompostEra is that visitors to the toilet don’t smell or see anything. The tank is connected to a fan that extracts stale air from the bathroom down the toilet and tank to ensure less odours than a conventional toilet. The black pipe and tank make sure that nothing is visible down the toilet.
